Four Seasons in a Day

      (Scorpio, from Autumn's Windy Depths)

I was waiting in the station
      It was kinda late
The sign over the BART platform said
      8:58
      Commuters mill like random thoughts
As each one finds its way
      Four seasons in a day
      Four seasons in a day

      Home in my apartment
      Listening to the screams
Of someone who smoked too much crack
      Living out his dreams
I turned the TV up a notch
      As he danced away
      Four seasons in a day
      Four seasons in a day

      Castro Street and Market
      The center of the ghetto
A chorus line of Gap-ad kids
      Gesturing falsetto
The haggard child on stretcher sheets
      Looked anything but gay
      Four seasons in a day
      Four seasons in a day

I was on a bus through Gilroy
      When I considered everything
How your love turned my winter
      To spring
And like this city drew me in
      As I ran away
      Four seasons in a day
      Four seasons in a day
